Why Rockstar? WHY?!

*SPOILER ALERT*
In the latest two Rockstar games, Red Dead Redemption and L.A Noire, we have seen our heroes die in terrible ways, John Marston being shot to dead by almost 20 man, and Cole Phelps dying in the sewers because he drowns, but the question here is why Rockstar feels, and has the need to kill our heroes! Imagine if they had killed Niko Bellic in GTA IV it would had been a tragedy. Maybe Rockstar feels like killing our heroes to make them look like martyrs, and give them a special place in our gaming memories, because common who doesn't remembers the ugly death of Marston and Phelps, where they died saving their loved ones and giving their lives for it. But well this is what Rockstar is good at, making game characters that will stay for a long time in our memories or hearts, and will also have several gaming influence and references, what I mean is that they will, by any meaning, influence in future Rockstar games or other developers games, like GTA did when it first came out, or Red Dead Redemption that changed our view of the old west, an age where a lot of people thought they would never see a game with such a good story. What do you think, why Rockstar kills them? Wouldn't Rockstar be killing a game series?
