Horror Games!

Last year was a pretty good year for the horror genre with games like The Evil Within, Alien Isolation, Outlast and Five Nights at Freddy´s and I loved that because all my life I have loved watching horror movies and being able to play a lot of horror games is a dream come true. From the creepy halls in Outlast to the f-ing jumpscares in Five Nights at Freddy´s I enjoyed and suffered every single moment of terror and fear that those games threw at me, but they are just a few games because if I mentioned every single one it would take me quite some time and I´m kind of lazy if not extremely lazy.

But for me the best horror of experience was not from a game but from a playable teaser released only in PS4 called P.T. Beleive me I screamed like a b!tch playing that game and I had to stop playing it several times only to come back for more later. When I played P.T. I only had one rule, don´t play this game alone, and I never did, I always shared the horror with someone and thanks to that I survived this incredible master piece created by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro.

So now I´m pretty excited for 2015 and the horror games it will bring upon us like Draugen, a horror game set in Norwegian west coast and where as usual the goal will be survival, from who or what is yet to be known but well we will patiently wait for it.

Other game is SOMA, this is a new game developed by Frictional Games the same guys that scared the shit out of everyone with Amnesia, this game seems to be filled with gore and some kind of human robots that will try to kill us, more is yet to be known about the game but once again I want to play it like amnesia and probably have a heart attack.

The last game I´m excited for is Outlast 2, the first one was amazing and had really good graphics so if the guys at Red Barrels can even overcome what they did they will create another masterpiece. At this point nothing is known about the game.

Our Most Anticipated Games of 2015

Here at Hunted Pixel it gets pretty lonely so we usually have conversations with ourselves about which games make us wanna puke and which ones make us want to adopt a kitten.

Today we are gonna talk about those games that make us want to adopt a kitten because they are just too good to be true and we have to share them with something that is almost as beautiful. First I want to say that last year I didn't see much of these games, although there were an acceptable number of them I hope this new year I get to see more.

The Order 1886

This PS4 exclusive will be a single player game developed by the creators of God of War and Ready at Dawn studios, the game is set in an alternadte London where there seems to be a continuos fight between some humans that belong to an order of knights and half breed monsters, The game features beautiful graphics and the appearence of Tesla, like Da Vinci in Assassin´s Creed 2.

The Division

Originally planned  for a 2014 realease the game was pushed back to 2015. The Division is a shooter that will feature a massive world where in only 5 days chaos took over the US. What interests me the most about this game is the ability to fight other players or AI with a small team made by you and your friends, other interesting feature is the ability for someone to help you even if they are not close to their console thanks to a companion app that will be released with the game, I only hope the companion app doesn´t turn out like the one in Watch Dogs. This game will be released in PC, PS4 and Xbox One
Halo 5: Guardians

The new installment in the Halo series promises to be the first truly big game for Xbox One. This time the game won´t have the Master Chief as the main character because the plot of the game will be finding Master Chief. The game will run at 60fps and is currently having a beta for the multiplayer part of the game.

MGSV

Big Boss is back and also my favorite game series is back. Hideo Kojima, the series creator and director, has now created an open world experience, like the one we had in MGS3 when we learned how Big Boss won that title, but now the world will be even bigger and Snake will be way more badass, he will even have a robotic arm! In this installment of the game Snake will look for vengeance after the base he created in Peace Walker is destroyed and his organization is framed. For what we have seen of the game it promises more than just beautiful graphics it also promises fun gameplay and new ways to complete our missions. The game will be available for PC, PS4, PS3, Xbox 360and Xbox One.

Christmas Shopping Guide

Hey guys because Christmas is just around the corner we wanted to make a Christmas Shopping guide so you don't miss any of the games you should be buying.

-Assassins Creed 3
One of the biggest games of 2012 with an epic story and a pretty unique multiplayer, it achieved a nomination to this year's GOTY. A new dlc was recently released for the game, and there are plenty more coming next year.

-Black Ops 2
The bigget game of the year, even more bigger than Halo 4, is a game you can't miss, unless you are tired of all the CODs being the same thing. This game has a really good multiplayer and the biggest one in the world. It also features a totally new zombies mode wich has taken hours of sleep away from me.

-Hitman Absolution
The new game of agent 47  is just a incredible master piece, it might not suit everyone but if you are up to a challenge this is the game you wanna be buying. It puts you in the skin of the deadliest assassin ever and gives you lots of options to kill your target.

-The Walking Dead
This year's GOTY is a really good game with some incredible story telling and a really dark and emotional story that might even make you cry. It doesn't have anything to do with the TV series, the characters are different but the concept and story line are the same.

-Dishonored
No one was expecting this game to be as big as it turned out to be, it has some pretty cool gameplay, and really good artwork, is not your tipical game but if you want to feel like a hipsters getting out of the mainstream this is the game for you.

Top 5 Most Anticipated Games Of 2013

Because this year is coming to an end (and probably the world too) we would like to present you our top 5 most anticipated games of 2013.

5. Tomb. Raider (March 5)
The new game of the old and famous Lara Croft, but this time a darker game where Lara will be put in serious trouble when she has to save her crew and survive in the island her ship crashed. This games seems to be the savior of the Tomb Raider series and also the game that will recover the series old glory.

4. Star Wars 1313 (2013)
I am a huge fan of Star Wars and when this game was announced I cried in happiness, why? Because it reminded me of my favorite PC game ever, Star Wars battlefront, and since the release of the second game I have been waiting for the third game to appear, and when I saw this game I finally saw the game that would be able to replace Battlefront as my favorite Star Wars game. Also it is gonna be the fist LucasArts-Disney game something that makes me wonder if will make it the Star Wars game I have been waiting so long.

3. GTA V (2013)
This game doesn't need an introduction, just watch the trailer.

2. Bioshock Infinite (March 26)
I love Irrational games, I love Bioshock and if you love Bioshock too I love you. I think this game and the next one will be the biggest contenders for next year's GOTY, because who doesn't love the art, gameplay, plasmids and steampunk of the Bioshock series? I better shut up and leave you this trailer, it speaks for itself.

1. The Last Of Us (May 7)
If Naughty Dog is well known for  something is not Crash is their game series Uncharted, and when they moved away from the series and released the first trailer of The Last Of Us my jaw dropped to the ground, it was an amazing game! Beautiful environments, heavy drama and a world tear to pieces. Another incredible Naughty Dog game, but this time more mature and with a darker story where we will see all the things that Joel and Ellie go trough to survive the fungus.

It's good to know that another great PC game is comming to  Xbox 360 on April 19th in North America.
But looks like the game wont have the incredible graphics of the pc version on the xbox, who knows why? I cant tell, but well lot of gamers say that graohics dont matter whats matters is the gameplay experience, but who knows  for how long can a gamer take some bad graphics to the brain.
And if you didnt play the first game there are rumours that say that some content of the original game is comming to the Xbox 360 in April.

Yes ladies and gentlemen, the impossible has become possible! Thanks to a mod created by zdzichorowerzysta, the dragons on the game have become ponys from the tv show for kids my little pony! As many other mods for Skyrim this one has creep me out of my mind, fighting giant flying ponys ain´t a normal thing to do, because if you have seen this show with your little sister, cousin or even your grandma you would know how harmless this things are. But if you are willing to fight giant flying ponys here is the link to download the mod http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6395#content
And please guys if you find a mod where the dragons become nyan cats be sure to leave us a comment with the link to download it!

We Talk: With Spooky Squid Games

Hi guys! I know bring you another interview with awesome people, this time with Miguel Sternberg, he is from  Spooky Squid Games, the creators of They Bleed Pixels

•How was Spooky Squid Games founded?

It was founded due to a mix of factors. I had been planning on starting a small indie studio for some time. Around the end of 2008 several things happened that pushed the studio into existence: I'd just come off some long contract work and had some savings to rely on. I was accepted for a round of the Artsy Games Incubator (a sort of writers circle for artists interested in making games) and had a successful grant application to create a prototype for Guerrilla Gardening. Andrew Pilkiw who's the programming half of Spooky Squid came on board for that prototype and ended up becoming a partner in the company. Thus Spooky Squid came into existence.

•Why did you name the studio Spooky Squid Games? Did someone inspire the name?

I had several name ideas, Spooky Squid happened to be my favourite one that also had a .com domain name that wasn't taken.

•Your graphics have a really nice touch of pixel art with paper and ink textures, how did you create this awesome graphics style?

I've been a pixel artist for coming up on a decade now. The mix with paper textures was something I'd been wanting to experiment with for awhile.

•How did you came up with the idea for Night of the Cephalopods. Was there something specific that inspired you?

It was pretty heavily inspired by some of Jonathan Blow's lectures on the conflicts inherent in combining narrative with interactivity in games. The dynamic narrator approach seemed like it might be one way of side stepping some of those problems.

•In your upcoming game Guerrilla Gardening the player will fight a dictatorship with flowers.  Why not  take a more violent approach?

Doing that would make it a different game and one that would be less interesting to make since the violent approach has been thoroughly explored in plenty of other games. The game's original inspiration was the real life guerrilla gardening street art movement. We combined it with the idea of an anti-plant dictatorship as an interesting way to frame the gameplay and give it more tension and significance.

•In Guerrilla Gardening the player has a variety of flowers to plant, which ones? what do they do?

Most of the plants function as a way to manipulate the citizens and police in your surroundings in various ways. I don't want to give away the full arsenal of plants but here's a taste:
- Perennial Screamers: plants that scream when disturbed, they scare citizens and attract police.
- Smell-so-goods: flowers with tasty smelling pollen that attracts citizens.
- Sleeping Poppies: plant fields of these to put cops or citizens to sleep with their pollen.
- Helivines: vines with spinning fan blades that can blow and direct pollen or disturb other plants.

•The tactical Tree Drop is a very creative of planting a tree without major work, how did you came up with this amazing idea?

It was one of the first ideas I had for the game, I can't remember the inspiration for it but I remember sketching it out on paper early on while exploring the basic idea of a stealth gardening game.

•Is Molly Greenthumb kind of hippie?

Not really. We've generally tried to avoid the whole flower power 60's hippie thing. That imagery has been so over saturated in the media that it lacks any real power and just slips into self parody.

•When and where can we expect to see the game later this year?

Guerrilla Gardening won't be out for a while, we're currently shopping a prototype of it around to publishers.

•They Bleed Pixels is a platforming game that requires skill and precision, was it inspired by another indie platforming game?
No one game specifically, though it's movement and jumping is closest in style to the wonderful metroidvania Knytt Stories. The combat was inspired by another indie game, Nidhogg which is a fantastic 2 player sword duelling game. Though the resulting combat is very different.

•What can you tell us about the little girl in They Bleed Pixels, will the players get to know her name?

Nope! The story will be told using silent comics, I want to leave a lot of it open to the player to interpret and figure out on there own.

•Will there be any kind of Boss battles in They Bleed Pixels?

Perhaps ;)

•The soundtrack for They Bleed Pixels is a really good one, can fans expect to see it on amazon or a retailer?

We're talking with the musician, Shaun Hatton, to figure out the best option for the soundtrack.  There will be a digital release for sure but It'd be great to also have some sort of deluxe physical version. Still we don't have a solid plan we can reveal yet.

•The way the player gets a checkpoint is extremely unique, why to use it in the game?

We wanted the player to have a reason to really engage with the combat system above and beyond getting more points. The traditional rewards of giving the player some sort of super attack or xp to level up their attacks weren't appealing since they would break the balance of the combat. Our friend Mathew Kumar (http://www.expdot.com/about/ ) suggested the checkpoint earning system as a possible solution and it just fit.

•Do you have an official release date for the game?

Not yet. We'll be announcing it in the near future though.

•Will They Bleed Pixels and/or Guerrilla Gardening be another free game?

Nope. They're both large, time consuming games to create. They will be reasonably priced and by supporting them you'll be supporting the creation of more games from Spooky Squid including more small free ones.

•Can we expect to see They Bleed Pixels on PC or PS3?

We're planning on some form of PC release when we're done the Xbox Live Indie Games version but won't have the details until after that first version is released. A PS3 version would be great but it would depend on Sony approving it since the PS3 isn't an open marketplace.

•What else can your fans expect about your studio in the future?

Hard to say, we have a big document of games we'd like to make in the future. Whatever it is, it'll probably be something significantly different from our previous games since we like to challenge ourselves.

We want to thank Daniel for giving us this awesome interview, so please be sure to support them!

Who Are 343 Industries? (Halo 4 Developer)

The name of the studio has been around for some time, but a lot of people doesn't know who they are or what they do and well I'm here today to tell you about them before they get famous or hated.

343 Industries is an American studio currently located in Redmont, a little city in Washington with only 54,144 habitants, the studio was created in 2007 by Microsoft Studios to oversee development of the Halo science fiction media franchise, which includes video games, novels, comics, and other multimedia content, the studio is conformed by ex-Bungie and ex-Pandemic employees who moved to the studio when Pandemic was liquidated, 343 Industries name comes from a halo character called 343 Guilty Spark (the little flying robot that helped Master Chief in Halo 3 and then betrayed him)

When Bungie separated from Microsoft in 2007 and became an independent studio the Halo intellectual property rights remained with Microsoft, but that didn't meant that all the future Halo games would had to be developed by Bungie, so when Bungie announced in 2010 that Halo Reach would be their last Halo game ever Microsoft put 343 Industries in charge of the Halo franchise. The first project made by 343 Industries was Halo Waypoint, a downloadable app for Xbox 360 where players can track their stats and accomplishments in the Halo series, and then 343 Industries developed the second DLC for Halo Reach "Defiant". Currently the American studio is working on the remake of Halo: Combat Evolved and the new Halo game Halo 4, their first entirely new game, which is supposed to be the first game of a new trilogy of Halo games.

Modern Warfare 3 Hardened Edition Teased

Today Infinity Ward creative strategist Robert Bowling teased the Hardened Edition of MW3 via twitter, the only thing he showed was the box that doesn't really tells anything about the content of it at all. The Hardened edition is one of the two Collector's Editions that the COD series usually have, and it is the edition between the normal one and the Prestige one that is the "serious" Collector's edition. Infinity Ward will reveal more about the special edition of the game on their upcoming event Call Of Duty XP.

I was really surprised when I got to see this picture, because usually by this time of the year the Hardened and Prestige editions are revealed to everyone with a GameStop trailer, or an unboxing video by Robert Bowling, and before this picture it look like this year the COD series wouldn't get it's usual special editions that always have something interesting such as NVG (Night Vision Goggles) or an RC car.
So what do you think this year's COD Hardened edition will include? A M1911, a flying llama or just some DLC? Let us know and leave a comment with what you think the Hardened edition will include.

Top Update Of The Week!?

MW3 MP Beta is having a secret testing or just a fake picture? Whatever it is it looks like epic mw3 is under closed Beta Testing witch can only mean we are looking forward to something like a MP trailer? Or will probably the game go public before the release? (I hope so) but keep an eye on your friends because you don’t know who could be playing it.

This Game Has A Lot Of Blood!! (They Bleed Pixels)

"They Bleed Pixels" is a game about a little girl haunted by a book and her her violent Lovecraftian nightmares. The game has a pixel art blended with a paper and ink textures, the game uses a one button fighting system were if you smashed it properly you will get a checkpoint, you will get combos by beating the shadowy monsters in a proper way, the most you kill the faster you get a checkpoint and beat the level will be easier. The game will also include intense platforming like the one on Super Meat Boy but with a little tweak.
The game will feature a lot of new electronic music made by DJ Finish Him "created using unconventional instruments and gadgets often not meant for musical use" as the official site says.

The game will hit XBLIG this summer, I hope to see a PC Steam release later this year because the game looks good and weird but worth a try.
