Duke Nukem is Back!

Some years ago we interviewed Jon St. John, the one and only guy who gave his voice to Duke Nukem, one of the most famous videogame characters in the 90s. Well Duke Nukem 3D turns 20 this year and Gearbox has revealed the special Duke Nukem: 20th Anniversary World Tour. It will be the first time Duke Nukem appears on the new generation and a whole new episode will be added to the already 20 year old classic.

For this special edition Gearbox has decided to really please fans by keeping Duke Nukem´s old art style and bringing familiar faces to the game. Jon St. John will return to voice Duke and will even re-record some of Duke´s old lines, Allen Blum III the original creator will design the new level, Levelord will provide new content and Lee Jackson new music.

This time good old Nuke will travel around the world saving hot babes and killing aliens with a new weapon, the incinerator, a flamethrower that had already been written in the code of the game but was never before usable. Players will also be capable of fighting in eight-player multiplayer matches, or to play the game with up to eight different players in co-op multiplayer and also will be capable of rewinding the game in case they die or f*ck something up with the new rewind feature.

The  game will launch on october 11 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One for $20. For more information be sure to follow our facebook.

Why We Love Betas / Top 5 best and worst betas

all copyright respective owners

Betas are the best options players have for trying the multiplayer aspect of a game before it is released. They give players the option to feel the game and know if what they are playing is worth their hard earned money, and they are also a tool for developers to encounter glitches,  bugs, etc., in their games by compiling huge data provided by some of the players.

EA in the last couple of years has had Betas as an estrategy for marketing their games and reaching to more players before the game is launched increasing sales, they have had several betas for Battlefield games, last year they had one for Star Wars Battlefront and last week one for Titanfall 2. I have been part of all of those betas, and thanks to those experiences I have bought almost all of them, showing just how effective betas are in influencing a gamers decision, or at least mine.

Last year Call Of Duty had their first public beta and it was a succes too, several players were part of it and their sales numbers increased after two years of decreasing numbers, although it seems like this year those numbers will drop more because gamers in general hated what Activision has showed so far of the game.

We love betas because they are a vehicle for players to test a game and see if they like it before spending money. We love them because when there´s nothing more to play in our libraries betas appear as a free option to fill the void in our daily lifes, even if it is for some days. But not all betas have been good,  and we are thankful for that because they killed and stopped the hype train we had jumped on.

So therefore here is our top 5 worst and best betas.

WORST BETAS

  1. Battlefield Hardline
  2. The Division
  3. Star Wars Battlefront
  4. Tom Clancy´s Rainbow Six Siege
  5. Street Fighter V
BEST BETAS
  1. Battlefield 1
  2. Battlefield 3
  3. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3
  4. Titanfall 2
  5. DOOM
Did you played any of these betas? Which one was your favorite? By the way be sure to check Battlefield 1 beta it is pretty cool and free! Be sure to like us on facebook

Titanfall 2

Titanfall's 2 pre-alpha tech test was released last weekend and of course we had to try it. Because you know even though we constantly disappear for months or years we still try to bring to you some content.

At first I was a little skeptical about what I could experience in this pre-alpha, the latest betas I have played have been quite disappointing and frustrating so for me this one was going to be the same. But hey! If it's free to download there's no harm in doing so, plus I have to get the most out of my PS plus subscription.

When I first booted the pre-alpha everything looked simple but good, then a cutscene started, it was a little introduction to the game and what can be expected of it when it finally releases. I skipped the tutorial and decided to instantly jump online, I could figure the controls and mechanics all by myself. I was wrong. I had to go back to the menu and do the tutorial and that's when the real fun started.
After a certain number of kills and completion of objectives you finally have enough points to call your Titan (giant robot) from the skies, some people have said that the amount of points required to get a titan is overwhelming but I found this to be a lie, to me it was a fair amount of points because getting a Titan can be a real gamechanger when your team is losing in the most miserable way. It is a tool to completely change the tides, but it can also be frustrating because when you start using the Titan, killing other players who don't have Titans and are still simple pilots can be really difficult, but for them to kill your Titan can be a stroll in the park because once they are in top of your magnificent metal Titan it is quite difficult to get them off, like trying to outrun a mob of white girls going for their pumpkin spice latte while taking selfies.

The guns showed in the beta were unbalanced too. From the options they gave us there were only 2 that actually worked for something. What it really caught my attention was the different abilities and grenades you could give to your pilot and how much the way you played could change thanks to them. For example there was an ability to send two holograms of yourself to distract other players and a grenade that would pull enemy pilots towards it, like a black hole, and then it would explode.
For a pre-alpha what I saw and experienced was really good and it gave me good vibes, unlike other betas, and it assure me that Titanfall 2 might be worht my money.

For last excuse me if my writing is rusty and it offends you, but it's been quite some time since I last wrote for Hunted Pixel, well actually since anyone did, and I might have lost my magic touch, so please bear with me while the old me comes back.

Our Most Anticipated Games of 2015

Here at Hunted Pixel it gets pretty lonely so we usually have conversations with ourselves about which games make us wanna puke and which ones make us want to adopt a kitten.

Today we are gonna talk about those games that make us want to adopt a kitten because they are just too good to be true and we have to share them with something that is almost as beautiful. First I want to say that last year I didn't see much of these games, although there were an acceptable number of them I hope this new year I get to see more.

The Order 1886

This PS4 exclusive will be a single player game developed by the creators of God of War and Ready at Dawn studios, the game is set in an alternadte London where there seems to be a continuos fight between some humans that belong to an order of knights and half breed monsters, The game features beautiful graphics and the appearence of Tesla, like Da Vinci in Assassin´s Creed 2.

The Division

Originally planned  for a 2014 realease the game was pushed back to 2015. The Division is a shooter that will feature a massive world where in only 5 days chaos took over the US. What interests me the most about this game is the ability to fight other players or AI with a small team made by you and your friends, other interesting feature is the ability for someone to help you even if they are not close to their console thanks to a companion app that will be released with the game, I only hope the companion app doesn´t turn out like the one in Watch Dogs. This game will be released in PC, PS4 and Xbox One
Halo 5: Guardians

The new installment in the Halo series promises to be the first truly big game for Xbox One. This time the game won´t have the Master Chief as the main character because the plot of the game will be finding Master Chief. The game will run at 60fps and is currently having a beta for the multiplayer part of the game.

MGSV

Big Boss is back and also my favorite game series is back. Hideo Kojima, the series creator and director, has now created an open world experience, like the one we had in MGS3 when we learned how Big Boss won that title, but now the world will be even bigger and Snake will be way more badass, he will even have a robotic arm! In this installment of the game Snake will look for vengeance after the base he created in Peace Walker is destroyed and his organization is framed. For what we have seen of the game it promises more than just beautiful graphics it also promises fun gameplay and new ways to complete our missions. The game will be available for PC, PS4, PS3, Xbox 360and Xbox One.
